Why reading controls belong on the page
Readers differ in eyesight, screens, and habits. A few controls let each one fix the page for themselves.
A fixed type size is a guess. It can be right for a laptop at arm’s length and wrong for a phone on a train, or for anyone whose eyes tire in the evening.
Three controls are enough
Size, width, and typeface cover most needs. Larger text helps with eyesight. A narrower column helps with focus. A sans-serif face can be easier on some screens and for some readers.
Make them stick
Settings that reset on every page are a chore. Inkline stores your choices in the browser and applies them before the page paints, so there is no flash of the default style.
Respect the browser
All sizes are in relative units, so a larger default font in your browser settings still works. Nothing here fights the tools readers already use.
